Archaeologists have proven that ancient societies practiced trade even as simple as barter trade. Barter trade involves the exchange of goods and services for other goods and services. This particular form of trade had its setbacks however as most goods didn’t have a common divisibility standard and the language used was not common to all. Also most traders would travel long distances in search of items to be exchanged only to arrive and not find what they were looking for. Over time the trading methods have evolved and introduced money as a means of payment. Since then different goods can be sold as long as the currency used for payment was the same. This led to the opening of stores of a much bigger convenience as this allowed buyers to shop under one building. Many companies have since striven to offer the best quality service to its customers and one such company is Wal-Mart Company.
The company has been in existence since 1969 and was established by Sam Walton. From its humble beginnings, the company has grown to become the largest in the world, and not only is it the largest company in the world but it also happens to be the largest corporation. It dwarfs it competition by generating almost three times their revenues. Due to its large size and availability in almost every large city in the world, Wal-Mart Company has remained America’s leading largest nongovernmental employer. Its founder, Mr. Walton died in 1992 as one of America’s richest people. He built the company using three simple principles which have continued to flourish until today; these being respect for the individual customer, offering the best service and striving for excellence in everything they do. Due to its dedication the company has continued to be the best in its field.
